Industrial Safety

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Industrial safety is important for all employees on a daily basis and working in an area without safety awareness may result in serious bodily harm or possibly even death. Industrial safety is a key factor in running a company and there are many aspects to consider when providing overall safety for your employees. You must ensure that employees have special equipment and procedures to ensure eye safety, ear safety, head protection, fire prevention and respiratory protection. Here are ways to ensure you (or your employees) are protected in each of these areas.

Eye Safety – Any injury to the eye can be very serious and possibly cause permanent eye damage to the victim. It is important to make sure your eyes are covered at all times by wearing goggles or other forms of eyewear. Make sure the goggles you are wearing provide protection around the sides of your eyes as well, otherwise flying debris may come in through the side and puncture your eye.

In this day and age, who isn’t concerned about car safety. Why, it seems that every day, you read about a new terrible and tragic car accident on the roadways, which is enough to practically make you want to become a hermit. No matter how much attention you put into car safety, it never seems like enough, as the safest drivers in the safest cars still sometimes get struck by a tragic fate. Although there is no perfect solution to this or any other problem, nonetheless, your car safety can be maximized and your chances for disaster minimized if you are willing to take some simple precautions.

One of the best things you can do to help increase your automotive safety is to learn defensive driving. Talking With Confidence: Create Safety for yourself

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Talking with confidence is NOT difficult as long as you have the right foundation. What is the foundation of talking with confidence? The foundation of talking with confidence is creating safety for yourself and for others.

Easier Said Than Done

Creating safety for yourself no matter where you go and no matter who you talk to is NO walk through the flower patch. It’s tough. Sometimes we get intimidated. Sometimes we get impatient and contribute to others’ lack of safety. Then we “protect” ourselves by becoming flustered or by arguing. Talking with confidence is a worthy goal however and is definitely worth giving up a few old habits.

Tip #1: Create Safety with Standards

In general (at least in the United States) it seems there is a trend toward more tolerance towards people and ideas alike. However, there is also a trend towards ambiguity, and complacent agreement to two opposing sides. A popular name for this trend is fence sitting. The ironic part of becoming a fence sitter is that you are actually less safe than when you take a stand. (Imagine sitting on a fence between two armies at war with one another). No one can agree with everyone and no one can say that everyone is making good decisions because some people are certainly making bad decisions.

Buy Bulk Safety Footwear

Monday, July 12th, 2010

If you’re an employer or are in charge of a team, you’ll no doubt understand exactly why it can be important to make sure your staff are kitted out with appropriate workwear and safety footwear. Particularly given the recently depth of health and safety legislation, it’s now only prudent to make sure your staff are well trained and well equipped. Unfortunately it isn’t always easy to stock a whole team with everything they need, especially if you are a small business owner or are working to a budget. In this article, we will look at the benefits of safety footwear for your workforce, and indeed how you can buy bulk safety goods.

Safety footwear has long been recognised as a good idea for manual labour and for dangerous industries like the construction trade. But why has it come to bear so much respect amongst employees? In the first case, sturdy safety footwear can help support the feet and ankles over rugged environments. If you’re working outdoors, a good pair of safety boots are essential for helping keep your feet dry and supported through the toughest of employment conditions. Secondly, safety footwear is important as a first line of precaution against potential damage to the feet and ankles, such as dropping heavy items like bricks or blocks, or spilling chemicals, or even dangers like upturned nails in the construction trade. Without proper boots, employees can find themselves injured from mundane, everyday dealings in the workplace. So if you’re involved in a dangerous trade, it is important to ensure you’ve got safety footwear in place to protect your feet and help you in your vocation.
